Q + A

What is Camp Waldemar?

Camp Waldemar is one of Kaki's favorite places on earth! She went to summer camp there for 8 summers, and has been back several times since to be a counselor and to participate in Women's Week with her mom. Payton has now been out there a few times as a visitor at camp pick up and a friend's wedding! The camp is positioned along the Guadalupe River and boasts several historic buildings and about 50 cabins - also known as Kampongs - on-site. All of the buildings at camp have air conditioning/heating, attached bathrooms, and tons of charm. There is no roughin' it when it comes to camping at Waldemar! For photos and some history of the camp, visit waldemar.com

Will there be festivities for guests on Friday?

Yes! If you are staying on camp, you can begin to unpack and explore the grounds, swim, etc. starting at 2:00 PM on Friday. We will also have a Welcome Party at the Camp Waldemar Play House for all guests Friday evening. The wedding party will join immediately following the rehearsal dinner.

How to get to Camp Waldemar?

If you are driving, Camp Waldemar is about 5 hours from Dallas, 2.5 hours from Austin and 5 hours from Houston. If you are choosing to fly, the nearest airport is San Antonio International Airport and it is about a 1.5 hour drive from the airport to camp. We recommend renting a car or contacting Hill Country Limousine to get you from the airport to camp or your lodging near camp. Note* Uber and Lyft services are sparse near Waldemar. If you are not staying on camp, please be aware of this! More information on transportation will be posted here, so stay tuned.

What should we pack?

We encourage our guests to embrace their inner camper during the course of the weekend! The grounds will be open and available for all of our guests to enjoy from Friday evening through Sunday morning. We suggest packing athletic/athleisure clothes, comfortable tennis shoes and swim suits for camp activities. The welcome party attire is Hill Country Chic, and the wedding is Black Tie Optional - but keep the stilettos at home for this one! A block, comfortable heel is highly recommended.
